I worked as part of Perkins & Will's in-house engineering team in the Chicago office, supporting the electrical design of major institutional, healthcare, research, and higher-education projects. At the time the firm maintained integrated architectural and engineering capabilities, with electrical engineering performed internally on projects alongside architectural, structural, mechanical, and plumbing design.

My work involved electrical building-systems design and production during the design and construction-document phases, working within multidisciplinary project teams on large and technically complex facilities.

Projects

Samsung Central Research Headquarters / Nexus Centre — Taejon, South Korea. Electrical engineering for a major Samsung research and development project. Perkins & Will won an international competition for the 2.43-million-square-foot Nexus Centre research complex and was actively designing its roughly 550,000-square-foot Central Research Headquarters in 1995 — conceived as a signature laboratory and office building within the larger R&D campus.

UIC Ambulatory Care Facility — University of Illinois at Chicago. Electrical engineering for a major new ambulatory healthcare facility. Perkins & Will provided architectural and engineering services beginning in 1995, continuing through redesign and design development in 1996. The facility was subsequently completed as UIC's Outpatient Care Center.

Genesis Medical Center — Davenport, Iowa. Electrical engineering associated with the development and expansion of Genesis Medical Center, consolidating and expanding healthcare facilities in Davenport with new and renovated clinical spaces as part of a substantial medical-campus development.

Katherine & William Mayer Residences — Tulane University, New Orleans. Electrical engineering for a new university residential complex, with Perkins & Will providing architecture alongside in-house structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering. The completed residence hall consists of two residential wings organized around existing campus courtyards and connected by a multistory gallery.
