JournalismAI is a program of Polis, the journalism think-tank at the London School of Economics, supported by the Google News Initiative. It funds and supports newsroom teams around the world to build working AI projects for reporting.
I mentored participant teams on their projects, reviewing both the engineering and the write-ups: whether a named-entity approach was the right tool where a classifier would fit better, whether a scraping strategy was needed when a platform API already exposed the data, where a technical write-up buried its own findings.
